Welcome to your first of my weekend newsletters! Each week, I'll share with you some inspirational thoughts for "Self-Care Saturday" along with life resources & tools in the feature, "Stuff I Love Sunday." Both sections are intended to power you up through the weekend, bolstering you for the week ahead.
We designed The Amplify Project to help you TAP into your power. We define power as the ability to live your best life on your terms. This, I firmly believe, includes building a life "you don't regularly need to escape from."
I know what that's like. I've been there. In the not so distant past, I was living a life that made me miserable.
It's not that my life was horrible, it wasn't. It was that it was shoved full of things I thought I should be doing instead of things I wanted to do.
I over-scheduled myself and then beat myself up when I couldn't complete my endless to-do list and then wondered why I was so unhappy all the time. I continually violated my "wants" in service of my "shoulds."
It's easy to get tricked into playing the when/then game:
"When I (make partner/finish my degree/get my kid through high school), then I will (finally be happy/be able to relax/pursue my passion)."
I played when/then FOR YEARS until one day a voice started waking me up at 3 in the morning nearly every morning saying, "This is IT Sari! This is your life. If you don't like it, change it."
Change occurs in the present, not the future.
There simply IS no better life waiting around the corner. That's a fantasy. One that keeps people living lives they don't enjoy for years and years.
THIS, right here, right now, is your life. Do you like it?
If yes, great!
If no, then change it. I know, I know, you think that you can't. But listen up buttercup; the life you have right now is the one you designed. Period. And you can design another one any time you want.
So yes. Take care of yourself. Have a glass of wine and get a pedicure. But as she says in the article:
"...salt baths and chocolate cake are ways to enjoy life-not escape from it."
In these posts, I'll be sharing something I love that you can read/watch/use such as book recommendations, articles, videos, and other cool stuff. I'll also highlight an organization that is in the "power" business that, should you be moved, you can help with support of time, money, or use as a resource! (I'm not a paid sponsor, I just think there's some pretty great stuff out there and I want to share it with you.)
Today I want to share with you one of my all-time favorite books, You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero.
Literally laugh out loud funny, Jen does a terrific job getting at the greatness of...well, you!
I keep stacks of this book in my office and give them away to clients, visitors, and anyone I think might need a shot in the arm of confidence.
Happy reading, and do post your favorite quotes on our Facebook page.
This organization helps women educate, empower and engage tomorrow's leaders and I can personally attest to the power of their program.

Sari's passion is to help you TAP into your power from the inside, out. "Power Tools" provides real talk that gives you tools and reminders for tapping into your power instead of giving in to your excuses.
